The sayings of the six lines
- Before the first obstacle, do not throw yourself forward but stop and wait — that you do not push by force now is your merit, not your weakness.
- This hardship is not your fault, and you cannot go around it out of duty to what you hold dear — you bear it not for yourself, but in service of a larger whole.
- On the edge, where the way forward only stalls, turn and return to what holds you — those who count on you will rejoice that you did not rush into futile breaking-through.
- Near the goal, do not press on alone — go back and join with those who stand on firm ground, for this difficulty is overcome better together than by solitary force.
- In the midst of the greatest distress, friends come to you — from the place where you lead, you carry the obstacle not alone, but as the one around whom others gather.
- Return from beyond the horizon to the great work, rather than seeking your own escape out there — now is the time to lean on someone wiser and complete the passage together.
